ShopDoc ANGELS initiative was first conceived and piloted in 2021 by our founder & CEO, Shihab Makaniyil. After a successful start, the initiative has been restarted in January 2024 in the Kasaragod district of Kerala. ANGELS is a program designed to empower and upskill local women to become micro-entrepreneurs in healthcare. Through this initiative, they take ownership of a franchise unit on ShopDoc and assume leadership roles in the health of their respective local communities.
ShopDoc recruits and trains these ANGELS for 8 to 16 weeks in various aspects of the health, wellness, and fitness industries. Training modules cover compassionate communication, essentials in business, lifestyle diseases management, software and digital tools, marketing, sales, basic life support, and more. Upon successful completion of the training evaluation, each ANGEL is provided with certification and a business unit to operate.
By becoming an ANGEL, women gain not only valuable skills and knowledge but also financial independence. In India, while women's employment and entrepreneurship rates face challenges, initiatives like ANGELS aim to bridge this gap by providing women with opportunities to start their own businesses in the healthcare sector.
Women play a crucial role in transforming the health of their families and societies at large. Despite challenges, women often serve as the primary caregivers in households, making decisions related to health and wellness. By empowering women through ANGELS, we aim to leverage their influence to promote preventive health awareness and combat the increasing trend of lifestyle diseases.
This program is designed to provide comprehensive training and guaranteed job placement opportunities. Conducted through offline classes, participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills over a 15-day period, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. Upon successful completion, participants are assured of 100% job placement within Kerala, with additional placement assistance provided for opportunities abroad. The curriculum covers a range of essential caregiving topics, including fundamentals of nursing, vital signs management, geriatric nursing, pain and palliative care, CPR, and more. Certification is provided through BSS SKILL certification for Geriatric Care, recognised and attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, opening doors to global employment opportunities. The program fee of ₹ 20,000 includes food and accommodation. To enroll, a registration fee of ₹3,000 is required, followed by a payment of ₹10,000 on the 7th day of classes, with the remaining ₹7,000 due by the 12th day of the training.
