About Me

Dr. Girish Warrier, a paediatric cardiac surgeon with many firsts in his credit, heads the Paediatic Cardiology Department of Aster MIMS, Calicut. Being the first surgeon in India to successfully perform the complex open heart procedure (Starne’s Operation) in a 1 kg neonate, he comes to Aster MIMS with years of expertise. He is also the first paediatric cardiac surgeon in Telangana to successfully perform a Norwood Operation. Graduated from Government Medical College, Thrissur, he completed his MS in General Surgery from the Government Medical College, Calicut and MCh-CVTS from SCTIMST, Trivandrum. He then completed a Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Auckland City Hospital & Starship Children’s Hospital, New Zealand. Dr. Girish also holds a fellowship in Cardiac Surgery from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA.
