Can we achieve immunity in a short period? What are the ways to improve immunity? In this article, we are going to see all the answers to these questions about immunity.

What is immunity?

Immunity refers to the body’s capacity to recognize disease-causing pathogens like bacteria and viruses. Our immunity protects us from these microbes by recognizing foreign invaders like bacteria, viruses, and parasites. So improving our immunity is a must for a healthy and happy life.

What are the ways to boost immunity?

The immune system is doing an incredible job by protecting our bodies against diseases, germs, pathogens, and infections. But sometimes it fails to do the required job. By following simple steps, we can boost our immunity to an extent. Some of the few strategies that we could adopt to boost our immunity are as follows:

1. Balanced Diet

The best solution to boost your immunity is to strictly follow a healthy diet. Always ensure that your food requirements meet your body’s nature and needs. One must always follow a diet plan according to their energy and health requirements. An ideal balanced diet should contain the following:

  • Add leafy vegetables to your diet for good vision, losing weight, and boosting immunity.
  • Include spices in your daily diet to reduce cell damage.
  • Minimize intake of red meat and processed foods.
  • Try fasting at regular intervals to avoid obesity and associated chronic diseases. Fasting also reduces the risk of cancer and type 2 diabetics.
  • Consume herbs like ashwagandha and amla regularly. Ashwagandha is a good remedy for stress, tension, and anxiety.

2. Consume enough Water

As we all know, the human body is made up of 50-70% water. Our body needs water for all the organs to hydrate cells and tissues. Water helps to carry oxygen to cells and as a result, it helps in the proper functioning of the body. It also removes toxic contents from our body, thus keeping our immune system healthy.

Water maintains our body at the correct temperature without which our body cannot function properly. According to studies, a male requires 2.5 liters of water per day and a female requires 2 liters of water per day.

Consumption of lukewarm water is highly recommended after a meal. This is because warm water has the capability of breaking down the food particles and thus making them easily digestible.

3. Get enough Sleep

Sleep is one of the most important pillars of life. Lack of sleep and irregular sleep can cause many health issues as well as a low immune system. Lack of sleep can put us at the risk of obesity, increased blood pressure, and many other health issues. Sleep is as important as food.

The best time to sleep is from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. If you are used to an irregular sleep time you can follow the above-mentioned ideal sleep time. It may seem a little hard at first, but with regular practice, you can achieve this schedule.

4. Yoga and Exercise

It is very important to practice Yoga and exercise regularly to strengthen up your immune system. Yoga is an effective practice because it improves your physical as well as your immune strength.

Yoga involves meditation which can strengthen your mind, body, and soul. It is an effective way to improve your attention and memory too. Stress may be one of the reasons for low immunity. If done regularly, Yoga lowers the stress hormones and improves your immunity.

Any kind of physical activity like jogging, swimming, and skipping can make the body more active, thus resulting in improved physical, mental, and immune health. Exercise can flush out bacteria and other disease-causing pathogens from your lungs, making you less prone to illness. Engaging in physical activities can also benefit us in many ways such as :

  • Reduces the risk of cancer
  • Keeps your heart healthy thus protecting against heart attacks
  • Lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Helps to develop stronger bones and joints

You should consult a yoga trainer or health expert if you have any doubts regarding your health and lifestyle.

5.Ayurvedic Treatments

Ayurvedic treatments are one of the world’s oldest whole-body treatments. It is based on the belief that human wellness depends upon the balance between mind, body, and soul. Ayurvedic treatments give importance to the wellness of the body rather than fighting diseases. But they also include treatment for specific illnesses. Ayurvedic treatments are beneficial in cleansing the mind, body, and soul. Panchakarma, an ayurvedic treatment is used to get rid of toxins from the body and thus maintaining immunity health. Anyone can afford ayurvedic treatments at any age.

Unlike other treatment methods, Ayurvedic treatments don’t have any side effects since no artificial chemicals are used which makes it more preferable!

How long does it take to boost immunity?

This is a tough question to answer. We are in a world where we need all the things in a snap. But that is not the case in boosting immunity. Immunity is not something that can be boosted by following simple steps. As a result, your gene, hereditary, environment, and many other factors play an important role in your immunity-boosting.

And besides that, if you are facing any health problems you should always consult medical expertise rather than treating them yourself. Sometimes self-treatment can lead to many serious troubles.
